Ashraf became a driving instructor in 2013 after careers in accounting and five-star hospitality. The accounting background shows in how he breaks road rules and manoeuvres into clear, logical steps. The hospitality background shows in the calm, respectful manner that lets learners ask questions, as often as they need to, without feeling judged.

How lessons are taught

Every lesson is one-on-one, and designed around your current ability rather than a lesson plan used for everyone. You keep the same instructor from your first lesson to test day, so you never have to re-explain your progress. Ashraf keeps track of what you covered last time and what comes next, gives practical feedback throughout the lesson, and records your hours in your Learner Log Book.

For a brand new learner that means quiet residential streets and the basics of control. For someone with a test booked it means the specific skills the assessment looks at. For a nervous driver it means starting well inside the comfort zone and widening it gradually, with each new step explained before it happens. A parent or support person is welcome to sit in on a first lesson.

The car

Lessons are taught in an automatic dual-control training car. Learning in one consistent car means the mirrors, the pedals, the visibility and the dimensions become familiar, which is one less unknown when you sit your test. If you would like to use the same car for the test itself, ask about test car hire.
